Trustees
These are the folks that ensure a sense of continuity between committees, as the outgoing chairman is then made a trustee. The trustees are responsible for all the legal business of the club

Jim DeaneJim Deane

Jim Deane was the chairman of the Good Hope Flying club for the last two years and has a passion for flying both fixed wing and helicopters and has an aerobatic rating which he regularly uses!

Born in 1955 in Gloucester, England, Jim has spent his entire working life designing and implementing Computer Systems for the Financial Services industry, founding a UK based Software Supplier, Marlborough Stirling – the company that brought him to South Africa.

Since moving to South Africa, Jim has been involved in implementing a major system at a major insurer in Cape Town, retired and then finding himself bored, developed a Wine Estate and now is involved in the Development of the Financial Services Subsidiary of the Sekunjalo Group.

Schalk BurgerSchalk Burger

Born in 1975 after which nothing significant happened until he started his membership with CAC and PPL training in Feb 1994, and completed his PPL in April the same year.

He currently holds a Commercial License and IF Rating, completed with CAC in 1995.

He has served on the CAC Committee during 1997 and again in 2005 when he became Chairman following up Rocky Romanov. He loves general aviation and would love to get into competition aerobatics in due time.

Craig MockfordCraig Mockford

Craig has been a member of GHFC's committee since before time began. He did his PPL with Cape Flying Services in George.

During the week he is an accountant and he has recently married.

Alexia MichaelidesAlexia Michaelides (Chairperson)

Alexia has been flying for 7 years. Her day job is Transplant Manager for Christian Barnard Memorial Hospital and she is also the Flight Coordinator for the Organ Donor Foundation. She is generally friendly and approachable until you mention her age.

Rafi WeinerRafi Weiner (Vice-Chair)

Rafi Weiner started flying with Good Hope Flying Club since early 2002. Rafi is married to Debbie and they have two boys Benji and Robbie. Rafi also has an adopted child named ZS-PMY.

During the week he is in partnership in a busy legal practice in Cape Town but manages to squeeze in time for all his other interests and hobbies which include flying, playing cards, maintaining Classic MG's and low flying on his Harley.

Martin HeneckMartin Heneck (Treasurer)

Martin started flying at the Cape Aero Club in 1973 and after attaining his PPL took a short sabbatical from flying until 2006. He should be licensed again well before the turn of the next millennium – and is enjoying every minute of mastering it again.

Peter ErasmusVossie Vosloo (Exco)

Vossie started flying career in 1978. He joined Good Hope Flying Club in 1996 and is now sitting on the committee for the fifth year. Vossie did his Com subjects in 1987 and didn't complete due to time constraints. He has started as of last year again!

During the week he is in the Wine, Spirits and RTD industry (Working for Distell as Production and Bottling Manager.)

David BarnesDavid Barnes (Exco)

David started flying in 1990 at the GHFC and has a PPL with Night rating.
He parted company with his beloved Cessna 172 ZS-CML and is now in between planes.

He work for a yacht repair company called Action Yachting, and as such, enjoys flying, sailing and cycling and oh, did I mention flying.
Unfortunately he doesn't have a Harley, a comm licence or a wine farm, but he manages to get by.

John NicholasJohn Nicholas

John is a web developer with dreams of spending more time in the cockpit. After joining the Cape Town flying club in 2007 as a student, he went on to get his PPL and Night Rating and is now pursuing his commercial license.
