Our People

Cape Town Flying Club has several highly qualified full-time instructors, as well as a number of part-timers. This ensures that you will be able to find an instructor suited to your schedule and learning style. Most students settle down happily with the first instructor allocated to them, but changes are possible where required.

The common feature in all our flying staff is their dedication to the task of turning out safe, competent pilots. Our full-time professional instructors have chosen a career in flying instruction and are not there to build hours to land that elusive airline job. Our part-time instructors are usually employed as pilots somewhere else and instruct in their spare time for the Club to pass on some of their vast aeronautical knowledge. The odd part-time instructor has chosen another career as his/her primary occupation, but holds enough love for flying to dedicate weekends to instructing for the Club. We have no interest in employing instructors whose concern is to build up their own hours at the expense of their students.

Bev joined the Club in November 2006 after a long career working for doctors. Bev runs our reception area and if you need anything, she is always available to help you. Her friendly smile, happy nature and organizational skills ensure that the members are well taken care of. She is married to Nick and they have 4 Rottweilers and a 3m long Burmese python called Leila. Once you get to know Bev, you will realize she is not scared of anything except mice.

He is possibly the highest-time pilot on Piper Tomahawks, our primary trainers, and can fly them better than anybody else. Pieter looks after our foreign students and pilots and helps them settle in, assists them with flight planning and generally provides them with the services that make their stay with us successful.

Cleaning Staff

Table Mountain seen from a Cessna 172RG (ZS-KSS)

Andries Poki and Peter Zonke

Andries and Peter are our faithful cleaners of aeroplanes and keeper tidy of premises. This does NOT mean that we are entitled to leave the aircraft in anything other than a pristine, tied-down state!

Linda Kolosa

Linda is responsible for making sure our premises are tidy and clean. Again, this does NOT mean we can leave the club in disarray!

Club Members

CTFC has approx 300 members, some more active than others. The committee comprises 6 people, all of whom fly actively as well as being involved in organisation and decision making. Active commitment to the promotion and success of the club is not limited to this small group, and input from any of our pilots is welcome.

Additionally, events are held regularly to bring our pilots together in a flying environment where they can practise their skills with (or against) one another.
